Insomnia is a relatively common condition, but it is especially common in people with dementia. Many often find themselves wandering around late at night and this is a frequent disruption for their loved ones. This leads many to try different sleeping aids, such as tablets. However, there is a natural remedy that most may not know about in cherry juice.

Tart cherry juice is used by people as a natural sleep aid, and studies have shown that people get an hour and 25 minutes more sleep after drinking the juice than people who don’t. This is perfect for those who don’t want to take tablets or those who find that other remedies, such as valerian, do not work. The study also shows that the improvement in sleep is apparent after drinking just 2 cups of cherry juice a day. This is good for those with dementia who may find it hard to swallow tablets.
Cherry juice is easily available and is found in health shops, like Holland & Barrett.
